Bedfunk are pleased to present to you a new instrumental release from Pat Bedeau to kick off 2024. Pat has enlisted a real Jazz aficionado with over 50 years experience to help him bring this track to life. We would like to welcome for his first outing not only on to Bedfunk, but to the world of House music and the niche of Soulful house - Július Baroš.

There's a nice story behind this one and something we are very proud of at Bedfunk, bringing people from around the world together though our love of music.

Július is a Slovak born trumpet player, also know as 'Ďuso' who Pat Bedeau met at an intimate Jazz Club in the centre of Prague, where he performed with his Quintet. Pat was on his way to a gig, when he stepped in to a bar for a drink and the Quintet happened to be playing downstair. Pat went to check them out and, as he does best, recognised his huge talent and approached Július, to ask if he would be interested in a collaboration and luckily he was. Pat and Július spent a few hours in a studio in Prague, laying down trumpet sounds and hooks for several of Pat's music projects.

Július Baroš has collaborated with the Prague big band, Big band of the national theatre also known as the television big band. He was also a member of the Film Symphony Orchestra. Inventive melodic playing makes Július Baroš comparable with such greats of modern jazz trumpeters Freddy Hubbard, Clifford Brown, but also Miles Davis.

This bumpy house joint is built for the dancefloor. Horn stabs bring forth the music, this builds with the added funky guitar riff from Ziggy Funk, that opens out into the track. The trumpet eases into the track bringing the rhythm, the trumpet, guitar and keys intertwine to perfection. This builds and builds into the solo. The dancers are really gonna love this one. Július tells a story of his busy morning without the need for words in his own imitable style with a touch of jazz.

This is the first of many to come featuring Július's work and we cannot wait to continue sharing them with you. Live instrumentation is a major feature of the Bedfunk sound. Even though we make electronic music, we work with live musicians to bring that human element. The multi instrumentalist Ziggy Funk, being a key part of our sound, who plays keys & guitar on this release. The live element is something we aim to continue bringing you to humanise our music.
